Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a diploma in English literature. Mitchell was recruited as a reporter by KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. 1976 Mitchell was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). She was hired by NBC News Washington two years after that as general reporter. She started covering the White House in 1981 and was promoted to chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She was made as the head White House correspondent by NBC News, in 1992. Mitchell appeared as both a host and panelist in the TV news show Meet the Press. She served on a panel for the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards for her journalism achievements, such as an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. The award was presented to her by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell was a reporter at in the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. Mitchell reported on a variety of important stories including the Iran Contra scandal, fiscal tax reforms, and arms control. She traveled along with President Ronald Reagan many times for summits, and to discuss topics like and the Iran Contra scandal.
